Opening of GEROPHARM-Bio plant
On October, 2nd, 2013 an opening ceremony of the modern high-tech complex of JSC GEROPHARM-Bio took place. It is- Russia's first full-cycle production site for recombinant human insulin: from the synthesis of substance to finished dosage forms. The ceremony took place on the territory of the industrial complex of the company in the village Obolensk (Serpukhov district, Moscow region).
The opening of the plant allowed to scale up an existing production of genetically engineered human insulin, to start a fully automated industrial line, which releases the drug in cartridges and vials, and to adjust release of new modern drugs for treatment of socially significant diseases, including diabetes.
The formal ceremony was opened by the Governor of Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov. Important guests from authorities took part in the ceremony: assistant Minister of health of the Russian Federation E. A. Maksimkina, Director of Department for chemical and technological complex and bioengineering technologies of the Ministry of industry and trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsyb A., head of Department for control over social sphere and trade Federal Antimonopoly service of Russia T. V. Nizhegorodtsev, Executive Director of the Association of Innovative regions of Russia, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Fund of assistance to development of small forms of enterprises in scientific-technical sphere I. M. Bortnik.
E. A. Maksimkina in her speech stressed the importance of the enterprise that helps to provide the medications for people to ensure high quality of life. S. A. Tsyb read the address on behalf of Minister of industry and trade of the Russian Federation, which stressed the importance of the enterprise for development of the pharmaceutical industry and strengthening the drug safety of the country.
T. V. Nizhegorodtsev in his speech stated that the new facility is “a realization of fair competition", and competition in the drug market is very difficult. "Our goal is to enable the company to seamlessly sell their drugs throughout the country, the health system received the benefits from competition, he said. - The benefits of competition are lower prices, and as a result, release of additional funds in the budget that can be directed on improving the quality of life of people".
Congratulations on the event were also made by other honorary guests: Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on culture, the national artist of the USSR I. D. Kobzon, Director of the diabetes Institute, Deputy Director of the fsbi "Endocrinological research center" of the Ministry of health of the Russian Federation on scientific work of M. V. Shestakov, the head of the Serpukhov district A. V. Cheston, Director of the charitable Foundation for the support of music "Elena Obraztsova Foundation" N. M. Ignatenko.
Apart from visiting manufacturing site, guests also had a unique possibility to see the photo project "Diabetes in persons", which has been realized to opening ceremony by GEROPHARM together with the famous Russian photographer Valery Plotnikov. Photo project was initiated by GEROPHARM with the aim to attract public attention to the problem of diabetes. People for whom diabetes has become a way of life, were invited to take part in the project and they showed that life had not lost its brightness.
