Baku hosted a scientific conference “Topical problems of Ophthalmology”

A scientific conference “Topical problems of Ophthalmology” dedicated to the 91st anniversary of academician Zarifa Aliyeva was held on April 28 at the National Centre of Ophthalmology named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

The conference brought together acclaimed representatives of Azerbaijan’s medical community. The event was dedicated to the life and scientific activities of Zarifa Aliyeva. A film about the life of this outstanding academician was presented to guests.

Opening the event, Elmar Gasimov, Director of the Centre and Chief Government Ophthalmologist of the Ministry of Health, has noted that prominent ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva who made great contribution to medical science is one of the famous scientists and personalities of Azerbaijan of the twentieth century. As a scientist, Aliyeva has made exceptional achievements in development of ophthalmic science in Azerbaijan and worldwide. Holding annual conferences and other events dedicated to the anniversary of this unforgettable academician became a tradition.

Scientific part of the conference featured many thematic reports. Firangiz Gadymova, Candidate of Medical Science, Head of the Department of Glaucoma of the National Centre of Ophthalmology named after academician Zarifa Aliyeva, made a report “Use of Retinalamin for treatment of patients with primary open-angle glaucoma”. In this report Gadymova shared her own experience of Retinalamin use. She presented data obtained during treatment of 40 patients with open-angle glaucoma.

Retinalamin is an original Russian drug product which stimulates retina regeneration. The drug is produced since 2001 on the Company’s own patented technology. Retinalamin is included in official lists and protocols of leading Russian health care facilities specialised in treatment and rehabilitation of patients with ophthalmic diseases including glaucoma, central dystrophy of retina and myopia.
