GEROPHARM Launched a Training Programme for Doctors from Venezuela

GEROPHARM launched a diabetes treatment training programme for healthcare professionals in Venezuela. The training programme aims to expand medical practitioners’ knowledge of the disease and train trainers for diabetes education centres. The training programme is supported by the Ministry of Health of Venezuela and Hugo Chávez Medical University.

On 11–13 November, healthcare specialists will discuss current trends in diabetes treatment, insulin therapy, and psychological aspects of and procedures for diabetic patient management.

The first day of the programme was attended by 150 specialists. The event’s guests of honour were the Deputy Minister for Health of Venezuela and the Rector of Hugo Chávez Medical University.

At the end of the programme, all attendees will receive University certificates and later will be able to share new skills and knowledge with their colleagues as trainers. The programme will train new specialists and help improve the access to and quality of medical care for Venezuelan patients.

The launch of the GEROPHARM’s training programme in Venezuela is yet another step in cementing and developing research cooperation between the two countries.

According to the International Diabetes Federation, there are more than 2 million diabetes patients in Venezuela.
