The President of Cuba Visited the GEROPHARM Plant in Saint Petersburg

6 May 2025

On Tuesday, Mr Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, the President of the Republic of Cuba, visited the GEROPHARM pharmaceutical company’s plant in Pushkin. The President toured the facilities and touched upon international cooperation in supporting the pharmaceutical market of Cuba.

In 2022, GEROPHARM was granted GMP certificates by CECMED, the Cuban regulator, attesting to the manufacturer’s compliance with high standards adopted in the region. Moreover, GEROPHARM is the first Russian company to have its insulin analogues authorised in the Republic of Cuba. In 2025, GEROPHARM intends to expand its cooperation with Cuban partners:

“As of today, five of our insulin products have been authorised in Cuba, and three more authorisations are pending. We are keen to expand our cooperation and willing to become a reliable supplier of life-saving insulin products to Cuban patients,” Petr Rodionov, GEROPHARM Chief Executive Officer, said during the tour.

The Cuban President said that GEROPHARM’s insulins are recognised in his country for their high quality and that Cuba is willing to extend the cooperation to joint developments of modern innovative medicines.

According to the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), 10 % of the Cuban adult population has diabetes mellitus (about 1 million people).
