Considering the gravity of diabetes mellitus in all its aspects, back in 2013, GEROPHARM started a unique photo project, Diabetes in Persons, which helps shed light on the topic from a different perspective.
People of all ages and walks of life took part in the project: all those who live with diabetes mellitus, but still retain the joy, the brilliance, and the happiness of human life. When looking at portraits of these people, as the photographer Valery Plotnikov saw them at the time, we can clearly grasp what they wanted their life to be.
The project was first presented in 2013, during the opening ceremony of the new insulin production facility of GEROPHARM in Obolensk, Moscow Region.
It did generate a lot of attention and made a great emotional impact on the public and mass media. For three years, the project was a symbol of the World Diabetes Day and a new way of raising awareness around the disease.
Diabetes in Persons toured across Russia and was a part of many professional and general-public, cultural events, exhibitions, and conferences. The full lineup of these portraits was presented to a wide audience at the Central House of Artists in Moscow.
The public interest and positive feedback from visitors inspired GEROPHARM to continue building upon this initiative. Today, Diabetes in Persons is no longer just a photo project, but a social platform that encompasses a variety of social initiatives of the Company that revolve around diabetes mellitus.
